Volunteering Opportunity at Kenwood House and Gardens

Please see this notice from Kenwood House, which offers the opportunity for volunteering, along with training and other connected benefits, to a wide age group from school leavers and upwards:

We are currently looking for Garden and Explainer volunteers. Garden volunteers help a small team to care for the flower beds and wider estate. We’re looking for people with an interest in horticulture and the historic environment with some experience tending a garden or doing their own handy-work. There is more information and a link on how to apply on the English Heritage website.Kenwood Garden Volunteer | English Heritage (english-heritage.org.uk). Explainer volunteers help to welcome and inspire our visitors, by sharing stories about Kenwood and our collection. We’re looking for people with an interest in art, history and community engagement and no prior experience is needed. There is more information and a link to apply on the English Heritage website. Kenwood House Explainer Volunteer | English Heritage (english-heritage.org.uk). Volunteering at Kenwood means being part of a long history of community care and stewardship for historical places and we think this is really special. We like to think that volunteering at Kenwood is beneficial for many other reasons as well. We organise a rich training programme and social events programme to all our volunteers, including exclusive talks, visits to other heritage sites and parties in the summer and winter. These events are meant to offer volunteers the opportunity to connect with each other, but also to continue learning (and learning together!). We encourage volunteers to develop new skills such as leading tours, researching their own spotlight talk, or facilitating educational sessions for schools and young people. We are currently developing our student volunteering offer and seek to offer additional support to young people that wish to work in heritage, through mentoring and also focused career development training. Through English Heritage, volunteers also gain free access to other sites, receive free or discounted tickets to special concerts and events and can claim travel expenses.
