Sunday 15th November 11:00am–1:00pm
In 2022 the Branch Hill Pond was reinstated on Hampstead Heath by the Redington Frognal Association and City of London Corporation. This is the pond painted so often by Constable and filled in during the 1880s. Since then, the RFA have installed bollards along the route with QR codes that link to their website where there is a flip-book that allows participants to self-guide from the source of the Westbourne at the Branch Hill Pond to its confluence with the Thames at Chelsea Embankment.
The geotrail looks for clues about the route and the geological influences in the landscape. The walk demonstrates how geology plays a key, but hidden, rôle in the local community. Why water is where it is and the impact it had and continues to have on the lives of those who live there.
The first of 3 walks will be led by Diana Clements who wrote the flip-book in conjunction with artist, Dee McLean. Starting at Branch Hill Pond the walk is about 1.5 kilometers long and downhill all the way.
Full details will be sent to those who register.
